BiographyJoaquin Sosa is a talented Cuban jazz musician, who plays clarinet and tenor sax. His first important concert outside of Cuba took place in 13th Jazz Festival in Barbados, where as a teenage boy, he had a pleasure to share a stage with great artist like: Roy Hargrove, Horacio El Negro, Giovanni Hidalgo and Arturo Tappin. In 2006 Joaquin participated in International Competition of Young Jazz Musicians Jojazz in Havana and despite being the youngest participant won 3rd prize for interpretation. In the following years he was a part of jazz band leaded by Joaquin Betancourt. In 2007 he travelled to Nova Scotia, Canada where he performed many concerts as well as took a summer jazz course in Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada. In 2010 Wynton Marsalis visited Cuba and Joaquin caught his eye. As a result he was invited to perform at the final concert with Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra at the Mella Theatre in Cuba. Shortly after his graduation with distinction from Amadeo Roldan, he moved to Spain and had a pleasure to play with Paquito D’Rivera in “Galician Connection”. In the following years he performed in Dubai, UAE with many great artists: Louis Banks, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, etc. He also recorded a video clip with Kool and the Gang. In 2018, once more, Joaquin was invited by Maestro Paquito D’Rivera to perform in his concert “100 Años de Bebo” in Sala Galileo Galilei in Madrid, Spain. Year 2019 was a special time for him, it was a year in which he recorded his first jazz album “Caminando”. He also had a pleasure to be one of the artists performing in International Jazz Festival in Dubai together with Frederic Yonnet as well as play in the famous Quincy Jones bar&lounge together with Munir Hossn.
