Humanité, The Beloved Community

Woven from the words, stories, and original melodies of an incredibly diverse cast, 'Humanité, the beloved community,' channels the ethos of civil rights in a raw and com-passionate tale of harmony in a divisive world.

Jazz artist Kirk Whalum was 9 years old when Martin Luther King jr. was assassinated 14 blocks from Kirk’s home in Memphis Tennessee. In a narrative spanning from his own childhood to the thriving global music scene Kirk collaborates with other artist on a musical journey that is self-aware, determined, and inextricably connected with civil rights and Martin Luther King, Jr’s vision of the beloved community.
