Press Release:

“Cityscape”marks the sophomore release from German-born, New York City based drummer/composer and bandleader, Bastian Weinhold. A departure from Weinhold’s 2010 debut album “River Styx”, the forthcoming “Cityscape” features a collection of tunes that are simplistic in nature yet provide their fair share of challenges for his veteran band mates. “The compositions on this record are a reflection on my time in New York”, says Weinhold, adding “things have become much busier since my first album and I wanted to write music that challenged the musicians; encouraged them to take risks!”. Drawing upon the versatility of brother Nils Weinhold on guitar, saxophonist Adam Larson and bassist Raviv Markovitz, the albums material features heavily upon the leader’s affinity for Blues, Rock and Funk music. “I’v been going back to old records in these genres that I’v loved forever”, says Weinhold, and the music on this record is certainly indicative of these roots. A story book album, “Cityscape”, features a unique intertwining of short interludes that captures New York City noises from everyday life and full length original compositions. This is something that Weinhold says reminds him of the fact that “NYC is moving on with or without me or the music”, adding “once the music is over, the city that never sleeps takes over once again.”

Bastian Weinhold’s record can be purchased from iTunes, CDBaby, Amazon and several other online distributors. For more information on upcoming performances, music, and all other pertinent press material, please visit www.bastianweinhold.com
